OUR FAMILY HOME - A HERITAGE RENOVATION
It’s been a while between blog posts so we thought we would say hello again! Over the last couple of years there was just a little too much happening in our world. We renovated a house (to an almost knock down rebuild state and our fourth baby girl Hazel Mim joined us last year - you can see why it’s been a while between posts.
Sometimes when you’re juggling aaall the things, something’s just got to give. For us that meant stepping back from our marketing, socials and general online presence. Shelving projects, workshops, collaborations we’d been really excited by and focussing on family and health instead. Now we’re back!! and we have some really exciting things lined up this year.
A huge thanks to Helen and our management team on the ground, for carrying the load and seeing to it that day to day operations at Salt ran seamlessly during this time and allowing us to focus on our little family.
We want to start by sharing a little peek into current state of our recently (mostly) completed family home renovation. We say “mostly completed” because all good renovations take time (a LOT of time) and we’ve come to accept that it’s ok for there to be a million tiny “1 percenter” jobs left on the to do list. The landscaping and gardens, a gate here and there, the blockout curtains from spotlight that we’ve thumbtacked up over our bedroom windows, It’s totally ok to NOT have it all perfect and complete at once. We’ll chip away at those jobs slowly and instead just enjoy the moment and season we’re in.
It takes some time to build a house, but it takes years to make it home, and there’s so many little pieces that we’re still yet to fill our home with - coffee tables, art, soft furnishings and styling pieces. For that reason, we enlisted the help our friends Kate & Nikki at Mode Hire - Furniture Hire & Property Styling to help us fill out some of the spaces.
We’ll share a more detailed post on our renovation journey soon (including a selections list) but for now here’s a little glimpse into the renovation of our family home.

Full disclosure, Greenbuild Constructions and Bliss Kitchens & Joinery are owned and operated by my incredible brother Kain Bliss whose attention to detail is comparable to none but I would highly recommended Kain and his team even if he wasn’t family! Thank you Kain and the Greenbuild and Bliss Kitchens & Joinery teams for creating this beautiful home for us.
